The humor of the story while attempting to expand it to fill out a minute running time. The movie does feel padded and a little long but it is still an entertaining take on the classic. The Voices As with all Illumination films the animation here is charming. While it doesnt quite match up to the classic cartoon or even the Jim Carrey version of the story this still looks great. And with a talented voice cast The Grinch delivers plenty of laughs. Benedict Cumberbatch does a decent job as the Grinch. He adds some shading to his malevolent character that helps to make him feel less one dimensional.
Chemistry with his dog Max is adorable. It also helps that the film doesnt have as many pointless plot digressions as previous versions of this tale. comes in the form of Cindy Lou Who voiced by Cameron Seely. This cute little tyke has just one request for Santa and is determi Europe Mobile Number List ned to get it. That gives the story some heart and helps to make it a bit more emotional than most animated revisitings of this material. The Grinch Movie Review is a fun family film with some good humor and a warm message. The younger audience is going to lap it up and will be ready for a new annual tradition.
The older crowd might be left wanting more originality from a film that could have been so much better than it is. But its worth a look for anyone who is a fan of the source material. The Visuals The movie is a lot of fun visually with Benedict Cumberbatchs menacingly gruff sniggers and snooty tone perfectly suited to the Grinch. The film doesnt move far enough from the source material to feel fresh though and outside of the Cindy Lou subplot the heart is missing.
